Ph.D. Physics Program

The Ph.D. program in Physics has been the newest addition to the Department. The program is designed for individuals seeking a greater depth of physics knowledge and contributing to enhancing science and technology. It would empower them to work in research and enable them to create new knowledge, discover new things, and develop new skills. The candidates would acquire the education, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to access several careers within the field of physics by obtaining a Ph.D. in Physics.

Duration

Ph.D program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years.

Course Work

Student has to go through 1 year (2 semesters) course work program. The course work paves the way to develop Doctoral Thesis Work.

Institute Scholarship

First year 20K per month, second and third year 25K per month, fourth year 30K per month for full time scholars.

Eligibility:

  • A two–year postgraduate degree or equivalent from a recognized Institution, with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in concerned subject.
  • OR
  • A regular, full time M.Phil degree from any recognized University.
  • Note: A relaxation of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC.

    Relaxation from Ph.D. Entrance Examination:

    Those who have completed their M.Phil. in the relevant discipline or the candidates who have qualified UGC-CSIR JRF/ GATE/ SET or any other similar examination as the case may be shall be exempted from sitting in Research Aptitude Test (RAPT).
